Our Story
We've made it our mission to develop innovative climate solutions that create lasting value for businesses, empower people, and restore the planet.
Carma was founded in 2022 by Royal Navy veteran Jim Holland and Iain Gurney with a clear mission: to make a real impact on the planet while supporting veterans on their resettlement journey.
What started as a way to provide employment opportunities to veterans through tree planting in the UK has grown into a full-scale climate action platform - helping businesses and individuals easily integrate sustainability into their operations and daily lives.
From tree and kelp planting to verified carbon credits and plug-in climate solutions, we provide the tools to take meaningful, measurable action. Whether it's a one-off investment or an ongoing climate commitment, we provide a range of UK and global projects to suit even the most discerning of customers.
We believe that sustainability should be simple, impactful, and accessible - creating positive outcomes for business, people and the planet.
Employing UK veterans
Since launching in 2023, Carma has provided employment opportunities for service leavers and veterans, through our tree-planting days in the UK.
For every 1,000 trees funded in the UK, we donate £400 to HighGround - a charity that supports service leavers and veterans in finding new career opportunities.

In just three years, we've made significant progress - partnering with a growing community of businesses and individuals to deliver innovative, impactful climate solutions.

Carma is a purpose-driven, for-profit organisation - just like many others in the climate and sustainability space. We believe it's important to be transparent about this.
Our goal is to build a financially sustainable business that delivers long-term, scalable impact.
From mid-2025 onwards, this includes ongoing support for the Standing Tall Foundation and HighGround, two incredible organisations helping UK veterans thrive after service.
